This handy list helps you keep in mind some of the nutritous foods your child needs to grow healthy and strong. For more information on preschooler serving sizes, visit gerber.com/prek.
Strive for at least ½ of your child's grain servings to be "whole grain." Claims on product labels are making it easier to identify foods with whole grains. Try serving whole grain breads, pasta, crackers, and cereal, as well as brown rice.

Milk is the most obvious choice. Kids may also enjoy yogurt and cheese. At this age, start reducing the amount of fat in their dairy selections with lower fat and fat free milk, yogurts, and cheeses. If your child doesn't like plain milk, certain flavored milks could be a nutritious alternative.

Serve up a broad range of color from dark green to orange to white with veggies like broccoli, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes, and cauliflower.

Serve lean meats and poultry, fatty fish, eggs, beans, and peas. It doesn't take much for them to get their required daily amount.

Again, server up a broad range of color from purples to reds to oranges with fruits like plums, strawberries, and cantaloupe. Serve no more than 4-6 fl oz of juice for one fruit serving and the rest as whole, peeled, chopped, or mashed fruit.
